Specials

For the first time the Munich Gallery Biró is a guest. Olga Zabel-Biró started out as a specialist for jewelry made of plastic. Today, she and her team represent numerous internationally renowned jewelry artists.

Another guest contributor enriching the fair is the design studio "The Fild". Based in Kiev, but internationally oriented, it offers products for friends of simple and sophisticated design.

Ore Mountain traditions are the theme of the project "Schmuckes Erzgebirge", curated by Prof. Ines Bruhn/Westsächsische Hochschule Zwickau, Faculty of Applied Arts Schneeberg. It brings together eight artists who deal with the source materials of the "Männelmacher". The toy designers or manufacturers of Christmas folk art can look back on a long tradition of craftsmanship, but in the meantime many of the objects are also assembled from automatically produced small parts. Can the traditional
Can the traditional forms of handicrafts from the Erzgebirge be brought into new contexts and new applications be opened up through alienating effects? A group of artists is investigating this question and presenting the results at the Grassimesse.

In addition to the University of Applied Sciences and Arts from Hildesheim, which will be presenting jewelry and equipment, students from the neighboring Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle will be presenting two departments. Prof. Martin Neubert's ceramics class and Prof. Sabine Golde's book arts class will be guests with selected works.

Guest country Italy

Italy will be our guest with two presentations. The show "Italia Plurale", put together by Waldemar Kerschbaumer, creative director of his agency adpassion, presents 15 Italian artisans and designers. There are bizarre as well as virtuoso handicrafts to admire. From a giant whale made of metal to a snail-shaped tobacco pipe. In contrast, the works of the students of the Free University of Bolzano are conceptual. The project "Bastoni" combines (not always seriously meant) walking sticks for almost all situations in life.
