Statement
We are Michael Schimmel and Janos Freuschle, father and son, self-employed cutler and graduate product designer. Together we develop and manufacture knives as one-offs or small series.Our collaboration began with the design of a plain pocket knife in 2017. By developing a new type of locking mechanism, we were able to break away from standardized specifications and implement a folding knife according to our ideas.
Our recycled handles also showcase our experimental approach. Based on the open source project of "Precious Plastics", Janos Freuschle has developed a technique to produce knife handles from recycled plastic. By processing plastic in our high-quality knives, we give the material a new value that enables a much-needed rethinking of how we use the raw material.
In this way, our pioneering spirit enables us to transcend traditional boundaries in craftsmanship.
