Four Grassi Awards will be presented to honor outstanding achievements:

Grassipreis der Carl und Anneliese Goerdeler-Stiftung: 3.000 €

Since 1997, the Grassimesse is sponsored by the Anneliese and Carl Goerdeler Foundation. The charitable foundation was established by the descendants of Leipzig’s mayor in 1995. In memory of the brave resistance of Carl Goerdeler during the Nazi regime and the closeness of his wife Anneliese Goerdeler with the GRASSI Museum of Applied Arts, the award was launched to promote outstanding achievements in the field of applied arts.

Grassipreis der Sparkasse Leipzig: 2.000 €.

The Sparkasse Leipzig is a Grassimesse sponsor since 1997. The GRASSI Award of the Sparkasse Leipzig aims at promoting contemporary art, craft and design. An engagement beyond this helps to make the implementati-on of the Grassimesse on a secure financial base.

Apolline-Preis 1.000 €.

This award is granted by the family Lyscov-Saucier from Brussels since 2011, which is devoted to  the decorative arts in its many facets. The award is proof that cultural promotion must not always be institu-tionalized, but can also  be motivated out of private commit-ment.

Preis der Grassifreunde 1.000 €.

The Freundeskreis GRASSI Museum für Angewandte Kunst e.V. [Circle of Friends of the GRASSI Museum of Applied Arts] inaugurated a new award in 2018. It is a dedicated step toward specially promoting the Grassimesse, which has been an important concern for the Circle of Friends since the reestablishment of the Grassimesse in 1997.

Grassi Award for Young Talents

The GRASSI Award for Young Talents is granted every year for the best graduation piece created by a design student at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle. The creation concerned is showcased at the Grassimesse and featured in a CityCards postcard edition. In additi-on, it will be purchased by the GRASSI Museum of Applied Arts in Leipzig to be included in its collections. The award is presented by a jury at Burg Giebichenstein University’s exhibition.
