Grassi Award of the Carl and Anneliese Goerdeler Foundation 3.000 €

Since 1997, the Grassimesse is sponsored by the Carl and Anneliese Goerdeler Foundation. The charitable foundation was established by the descendants of Leipzig’s mayor in 1995. In memory of the brave resistance of Carl Goerdeler during the Nazi regime and the closeness of his wife Anneliese Goerdeler with the GRASSI Museum of Applied Arts, the award was launched to promote outstanding achievements in the field of applied arts.

In addition, the Goerdeler Foundation is awarding a special purchase prize of 3,000 € this year.
 

NEW: smow Design Award of the Grassimesse 2.500 €

At smow everything revolves around designer furniture as well as the furnishing of contemporary living and working environments of tomorrow. In search of innovative concepts and products, the honest use of materials and a sustainable design approach, the smow Design Award, which was first launched in 2023, is primarily intended to promote designers from the furniture sector.

Grassi Award of the Sparkasse Leipzig 2.000 €

The Sparkasse Leipzig is a Grassimesse sponsor since 1997. The GRASSI Award of the Sparkasse Leipzig aims at promoting contemporary art, craft and design. An engagement beyond this helps to put the hosting of the Grassimesse on a secure financial base.

Apolline-Award 1.000 €

This award is granted by the family Lyscov-Saucier from Brussels since 2011, which is devoted to the decorative arts in its many facets. The award is an example that cultural promotion does not always have to be institutionalised, but can also be motivated by private commitment.

Jan Willems Award  1.500 €

Rosemarie Willems from Rotterdam (NL), a collector who has been associated with the museum for a long time, will donate a new prize in memory of her father Jan Willems from 2022. The prize is intended primarily to support craftspeople and designers working in the field of wood.

Award of the Grassifriends-Circle 1.000 €

The Circle of Friends of the GRASSI Museum of Applied Arts inaugurated a new award in 2018. It is a dedicated step towards the speciall promotion of the Grassimesse, which has been an important concern for the Circle of Friends since the reestablishment of the Grassimesse in 1997.

Grassi Award for Young Talents

The GRASSI Award for Young Talents is granted every year for the best graduation piece created by a design student at  Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle. The creation concerned is showcased at the Grassimesse and featured in a CityCards postcard edition. In addition, it will be purchased by the GRASSI Museum of Applied Arts in Leipzig to be included in its collections. The award is presented by a jury at Burg Giebichenstein University’s exhibition.
