Spaces of Taiwan
"Travel is about discovering and getting to know new places, people and cultures. Exploring boundaries of communication. Trying out culinary specialties. Gathering inspiration. Gathering experiences. The need to travel is ingrained in me, driven by a yearning for the unknown to contrast my own life and to recognize and expand my personal habitus. Travel invigorates.
But this was not possible as usual during the pandemic. Therefore, the only journey that remains seems to be the journey of thought. "Spaces of Taiwan" is both a retrospective and a tribute to the country and to travel itself. The series of objects shows memories materialized in glass that "moved" me in a special way during my 2018 trip. They are inspired by culinary diversity. Explicitly, however, by Taiwanese night markets and the material bamboo.
