OODD Studios ist ein interdisziplinäres Designkollektiv aus Leipzig, gegründet 2021 von Magdalena Orland und Susanne Ostwald. In unseren Arbeiten bewegen wir uns an der Schnittstelle von Kunsthandwerk, Design und digitaler Kultur. Unser besonderes Interesse gilt dem Potenzial zeitgenössischen Handwerks als künstlerisches Ausdrucksmittel in einer zunehmend technisierten Gesellschaft.
Wir verstehen Kunsthandwerk nicht als bloße Technik, sondern als Haltung – als tiefgehende, gestalterische Auseinandersetzung mit Material, Zeit und gesellschaftlicher Relevanz. Unsere textilen Arbeiten entstehen in aufwendigen Prozessen, geprägt von experimenteller Neugier, Sinnlichkeit und einem klaren gestalterischen Standpunkt und finden Anwendung in Mode, Interieur und Wandschmuck.
Wir möchten mit unserer Position zur Diskussion über die Zukunft des Kunsthandwerks beitragen – mit Objekten aus unseren eigens hergestellten Textilien, die sowohl ästhetisch prägnant als auch konzeptuell verankert sind.

Grassimesse 2023
After our award-winning debut at Grassimesse last year, we would like to reapply with new and further developments of our work in contemporary lace.
We have since expanded the world around our materials and the objects developed from them to include digital paintings that embed our lace fabrics in a mix of historical aesthetics and contemporary themes.
New patterns and color combinations have been added to our OODD Collier (modular collar systems) and LANDMARK (textile vases) series of works, and a blouse from our ORLANDO Couture collection with contemporary lace collar and cuffs will be offered for sale for the first time.
The also newly developed large-format room textiles of the INTER_SPACE series enchant interiors and walls in the form of wall hangings, screens or illuminated surfaces.

OODD studios is an interdisciplinary design cooperative that explores the potentials of contemporary craft in relation to the advancing digitalization and associated needs in concept-based projects. The foundation is the specially developed material contemporary lace, which through its unified filled and empty spaces I materiality and immateriality is a textile prime example of the actual state of the digitalized yet analog society. The visual-haptic textiles are individually, on different levels be-greifbar.
